Venice Filming Locations

Location Library

Venice is the most recognizable beach neighborhood in Los Angeles, and the hardest to fake. We represent 50+ film-ready locations across the walk streets, the canals, and the blocks off Abbot Kinney: craftsman bungalows, bold architectural moderns, artist lofts, and cottages with the kind of layered character the neighborhood is famous for.

What Venice offers is contradiction in one square mile: canals and skate parks, million-dollar moderns beside weathered bungalows, ocean light over streets with no two houses alike. That range is why indie features, fashion shoots, and commercials all work here. Walk streets and canal-front properties take planning, since access is on foot and parking is scarce, and we flag those logistics on every listing. Permits run through FilmLA. Tell us the story and we will find its block.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a permit to film in Venice?

Yes. Venice is part of the City of Los Angeles, so permits run through FilmLA. Walk streets, the canals, and the boardwalk each carry their own conditions on the permit, and we walk productions through what a given address needs.

Can you film on the Venice canals?

Yes, with a FilmLA permit and the neighborhood conditions that come with it. Access is on foot and staging is limited, so canal shoots plan tighter than a driveway load-in. Several of our properties sit on or near the canals.

What kinds of locations are in Venice?

Craftsman bungalows, bold architectural moderns, artist lofts, and cottages, often within a block of each other. No two houses alike is the neighborhood's whole character.

How much does a Venice location cost?

It depends on the property and the shoot. Send an inquiry from the listing and we will quote your dates, hours, and crew size.

What are the logistics like on walk streets?

Honest but workable: no vehicle access to the front door, scarce parking, and gear moves by hand or cart. Productions handle it every week with a nearby basecamp, and our listings flag which properties need that plan.

What does Venice read as on camera?

Layered, creative, and coastal without polish. It plays the artist, the startup founder, and the beach town with history. For the brighter, cleaner beach look next door, see the Santa Monica locations page.
