Mansion 1 is a French Neoclassical mansion in Pasadena with formal reception rooms, monumental ceiling heights and extensive landscaped grounds. Its strongest production assets are the curved ceremonial staircase, long interior sightlines, columned façades and a geometric pool court connected to covered entertaining spaces.
The mansion presents two distinct architectural faces. At the front, a symmetrical cream façade rises behind a sloping lawn, with tall French doors, classical pilasters, stone balustrades and a parapet roofline. Broad steps and a terrace create a clean platform for entrances, while the curving drive allows the camera to reveal the elevation gradually. The rear is more theatrical. Two-story arched windows, a rounded bay with iron balconies and open colonnades frame the pool. This side reads as a European resort or diplomatic residence, and the paving provides useful camera distance for wide architectural compositions.
The double-height foyer is built around a sweeping white staircase with black wrought-iron rails. A crystal chandelier hangs over polished stone flooring set with a large black-and-white medallion, and tall glazed doors bring the garden into the background. Wide columned openings connect the foyer to adjoining rooms, supporting layered shots through multiple spaces. Formal salons have herringbone wood floors, paneled cream walls, ornate gilded door surrounds and a carved marble fireplace beneath a towering mirror. Tall windows create directional side light across the seating areas. The long dining room is particularly effective for still photography, where its chandelier, repeated chairs and windows establish strong symmetry. Schedule these rooms when daylight is washing the garden-facing glass; as it moves or becomes harder, the double-height rear salon offers broader pool-facing glazing and more depth for repositioning.
The traditional rectangular pool has a black Greek-key border, geometric floor pattern and a raised circular spa. Cream paving and clipped turf keep the court visually graphic. At one end, a low columned pool pavilion wraps around the water; at the other, paired stone wall fountains and a white slatted cabana provide opposing backgrounds. Covered patios connect directly to the mansion and include tall columns, tied-back curtains and a coffered ceiling. An outdoor kitchen and bar face through the colonnade toward the pool, allowing foreground action with the water held deep in frame. Full sun defines the pool court at the brightest part of the day, while the roofed patio, cabana and mature trees offer nearby shade when crews need softer exposure.
The grounds extend well beyond the pool. A large formal lawn, mature palms and dense specimen trees provide long green approaches, while hedges screen the property edges. A vine-covered white arbor creates a shaded garden corridor with patterned paving and a pedestal fountain. Elsewhere, a small putting green and a sunken circular fire-pit area offer more contained setups. Arrival is by a wide curving drive with ample parking and room to move equipment toward the house. Garage bays offer covered support space and have sufficient open floor area for wardrobe racks, tables and production cases. Crews can coordinate shooting plans with the Pasadena film permit office while organizing arrival and staging from the drive. Interior rooms, pool terraces and shaded garden paths sit close enough together to support company moves without changing the property’s visual world.
