Lloyd Beach House is a traditional coastal cottage-style house set directly against the sand in Santa Monica. Its strongest frame runs from a freeform rock pool across a palm-lined garden to the ocean horizon. White-painted timber siding, broad outdoor living areas and relaxed, collected interiors give the property an authentic California beach character rather than a polished contemporary look.

Oceanfront Pool Filming

The freeform pool is the visual anchor. Its dark blue water curves through a broad flagstone terrace, with large naturalistic rocks and a built-up waterfall at the beach end. Four tall palms rise cleanly against the sky, while clipped hedges and a low white fence control the side backgrounds. From the house, the camera can look over the pool and straight across the sand to the Pacific. Reverse angles take in the white cottage façade and striped awnings. This ocean-facing pool gives still photography layered depth, open sky and an unmistakable Southern California horizon within a single setup.

Covered Patio And Raised Deck

A deep blue-and-white striped awning turns the poolside patio into a shaded exterior room. There is enough paved width for a long dining table, lounge furniture and working space beside the house. An outdoor bar with a blue counter, open shelving and built-in grill creates a practical hosting scene while retaining the pool and ocean beyond. Above it, a white timber deck sits on exposed posts and braces, reached by a black spiral stair. Its weathered boards and built-in green cushions read as an informal lookout or sun deck, with elevated sightlines across the yard.

Beach-Side Natural Light

The west-facing pool garden receives strong, open daylight from the ocean side, brightest across the water, flagstone and lawn as the sun moves toward the beach. Full sun creates crisp palm shadows and bright reflections on the pool. The striped awning provides an immediate softer alternative, holding the terrace in broad shade while preserving a bright exterior background. Inside, French doors and a long bank of multi-pane windows carry beach-side light into the piano room. That room offers a clear interior-to-pool axis, with hardwood floors, rugs and the black grand piano adding contrast without blocking the view.

Coastal Cottage Interiors And Grounds

Inside, the house combines cottage detailing with a lived-in Americana finish. The kitchen has patterned tile flooring, pale cabinetry, globe pendants and a substantial wood-topped island that allows workable angles from both sides. An adjoining sitting area shifts darker through black built-ins, an orange sofa and layered rugs. Elsewhere, shuttered bedrooms, pale plank floors and a white-tiled bathroom continue the unfussy coastal palette. Standard-height beadboard ceilings keep the rooms domestic in scale. A separate enclosed lawn and brick-edged courtyard broaden the exterior options. White board-and-batten walls, mature hedges, planting beds and a sculptural stone head create a quieter garden setting away from the pool. Narrow timber side passages connect the house and yards, while the beachfront threshold opens immediately onto sand for a clean transition between private garden and public-facing coastal imagery.
