Americana 17 is the kind of Pacific Palisades filming location that feels immediately familiar on camera, a single-story mid-century ranch with an easy Southern California rhythm. The low gabled roof, vaulted interiors and wide garden-facing glass give it shape and light, while the warm wood floors and connected living spaces keep it grounded as a believable family home. Outside, the gray-and-white exterior, mature planting and mountain backdrop do a lot of visual work before you even step through the door.
From the street, the house has a clean 1950s to 1960s California ranch profile. Gray vertical siding, white fascia, exposed rafter ends and the wide garage door all sit in the same calm, period-correct language. The recessed glass-panel entry is tucked under a deep roof overhang, which gives the front approach a nice shaded transition for arrivals or establishing shots. The landscaping feels established rather than staged. Concrete paths move past clipped lawn, succulents and layered shrubs, and the hillside rises clearly above the roofline for wider frames with real mountain context. Around the side, the corner windows and simple covered patio continue the geometry of the house without calling too much attention to themselves.
The main room is where the house opens up. A white-painted tongue-and-groove ceiling runs over exposed beams, and the broad window wall with high clerestory panes pulls garden light deep into the living and dining areas. It is bright where you want it near the glass, but the gray fireplace wall, pale dining walls and deeper kitchen also give productions calmer surfaces when the scene needs to be relit or controlled. There are a couple of natural hero angles in this one connected space. The flush concrete fireplace anchors the seating area, while the black grand piano and graphic striped rug create a separate visual moment without needing to move to another room. From the dining table, the camera can look back toward the lounge and fire, or turn the other way toward the kitchen and rear glass doors, which makes the plan especially useful for commercial, television and lifestyle production.
The kitchen has a richer mood than the adjoining white rooms, with dark figured-wood cabinetry, gray counters, stainless appliances and a white tile backsplash keeping the working surfaces clean on camera. A substantial island with three stools faces the cooking wall, and the wide sink window brings in direct garden light. Because the threshold stays open to the dining area, food preparation, family movement and conversational scenes can play naturally between the spaces. The primary bedroom carries the same warm wood flooring and adds a vaulted ceiling with a full wall of timber closets. Its bathroom has a long wood vanity, tiled tub, glass screen and rain shower. The secondary rooms are simpler and useful in different ways: the office has the most controlled daylight with one horizontal window and a woven shade, while another room brings in light from a skylight set high in the sloped ceiling.
The backyard gives this filming location room to breathe. A broad lawn sets the camera back from the long elevation of sliding glass doors and windows, which is helpful for exterior coverage and looking back into the house. The circular brick patio with a timber picnic table and large umbrella has an easy outdoor-living feel, while the smaller side terrace places wire lounge chairs against the gray siding for a tighter, more graphic setup. For crews filming in Pacific Palisades, permit plans can be coordinated with FilmLA. The property has straightforward access and ample parking to support larger teams, and the wide driveway leads directly to the garage. With its broad opening, hard gray floor and existing utility setup, the garage can also work as a sheltered practical space for equipment, bicycle or household-storage scenes.
