Ranch 35 is a large Malibu vineyard estate built across steep, terraced hillsides. Its production range extends from geometric vine rows and mountain panoramas to a two-story stone winery barn, a Spanish Revival residence, landscaped entertaining grounds and a raised timber cottage under mature trees. The estate is available for location work.

Vineyard Scale And Filming Angles

The vineyard climbs the surrounding slopes in crisp, repeating bands, broken by long stone staircases, dirt tracks, olive trees and narrow cypress accents. From higher ground, wide shots take in multiple ridgelines, winding roads and cultivated valleys. Lower angles compress the rows into dense green patterns. Fog gives the same landscape a secluded, old-world agricultural mood, while clear conditions open it into a broad Southern California mountain vista. Near the vines, a stone winery barn anchors a generous paved forecourt and furnished lawn. Its rubble-stone facade, red tile roof, circular gable window and oversized paneled timber doors read as a rustic Mediterranean winery. The forecourt gives cameras room to back away for a clean elevation, and vineyard terraces rise directly behind the building. A curving estate drive, stone borders and dirt vineyard lanes connect the principal exterior zones.

Winery Barn And Spanish Interiors

Inside the two-story barn, a high gabled ceiling carries exposed timber trusses above a broad polished concrete floor. Small high windows admit directional daylight from the hillside and facade sides, while the large timber entrance can provide a stronger frontal source. Closing that door leaves a comparatively controlled interior for lighting. A long wood-topped bar, movable counters, wine barrels and a weathered mezzanine establish a working tasting-room character. The bar gives editorial work depth through the open floor and a strong reverse angle toward the mezzanine stair. The main residence reads clearly as Spanish Revival. Plaster arches form long interior sightlines between the entry, living rooms and circulation halls; heavy plank doors, wrought-iron railings, tile details and exposed wood ceilings reinforce the style. View-facing arched French doors bring strong natural light into the principal sitting rooms, while deeper hallways and the coffered family room offer softer alternatives as the sun moves. Additional spaces include a wood-cabinet kitchen, formal dining room, bedrooms, game room, gym, laundry room and wine cellar.

Production Access And Exterior Units

Outdoor zones provide several distinct units within the same vineyard property. The brightest working areas are the open vine terraces, pool lawn and overlook patios, where daylight arrives unobstructed from the valley-facing side. Mature olive canopies soften the light over the winery lawn, and the raised timber cottage sits in deeper woodland shade. Its wraparound deck, rough plank siding and stacked firewood let it play as a secluded ranch cabin. A modern infinity pool fronts the stucco residence, with flagstone paving, lawn and a columned pergola supplying usable reverse angles. Elsewhere, a stone courtyard fountain, clipped hedges, a large overlook terrace, a vine-covered garden arch and a full tennis court broaden the exterior coverage. For arrival planning and location permitting, production teams can coordinate with FilmLA while using the broad paved drive to approach the winery area. Stone paths and stairs then link the residence, gardens and hillside vineyard, allowing sequences to move between polished Mediterranean spaces and agricultural terrain without leaving the estate.
